Songs that hold you still: Priyanka Luxx
Priyanka Luxx is a singer‑songwriter from regional South Australia. You can catch her this October, stepping onto the stage alongside Shaun for his 4th album launch adding her expertly trained vocals into the spaces he can’t fill. We have sat back and watched Priyanka over the past 21 years as she has morphed, developed her style and capacity as not only a vocalist but also a lyricist and songwriter. She has spent years building her sound while cultivating herself a loyal following with her sweet and witty stage presence, in live shows, both solo and with her band, while also backing some of Adelaide's greats and has become something of a darling of Adelaide’s indie-folk-pop- pop scene.
Her debut single, Heavy Lifting, arrived in 2022, followed by The Temple and Alone in late 2023. Alone reached the number one spot on Three D Radio’s Top 20.
In July 2024, she released Unspeakable Things, a single that I would describe as a deepening of her songwriting. Then, in 2025, a live release of my personal favourite ‘Stay with Me’, which is what I would describe as an authentic reveal of her inner and growing understanding of herself and the world she has been in and is creating around her.
“Her songs play out like the iconic film of our teens, Almost Famous, the story we never saw - Penny Lane moving on from Stillwater and finding her own voice - rooted in folk, pop and gritty storytelling.”
What’s next for Priyanka?
I have already had the pleasure of hearing some of Priyanka Luxx’s forthcoming studio album, which features a moody delight called ‘The Greatest’ which is currently in production with Sean Timms, the mastermind behind prog-rock band Southern Empire. While to some that might sound like an unlikely match, I promise the collaboration works and it’s worth the wait. So keep an eye out for an early 2026 release - and sign up to her mailing list to be updated when it drops. It’s the pop-folksy album that sets Priyanka apart from the typical pop crowd, with even more heavy, raw, honest lyrics and delightful, dreamy vocals that will have us all reaching out for more.
It’s big, it’s stupid catchy, and I promise it’ll bridge a gap you didn’t know you needed bridged.
Inviting Priyanka Luxx into the world of Shaun Holton lets you sit in on a conversation that feels like you should be a little bit shy, cover your eyes and peek through your fingers; together they create an intimate dialogue built on comfort and trust spanning decades. Priyanka steps forward to show us a world of softness and introspection in the moments unfolding in Shaun’s gut-wrenchingly raw lyrics and Jungian-heavy insight. Her vocals are there to light the way for us as Shaun paints and dark but realistic picture, together creating some moments that have us considering …

Event details
Shaun Holton’s album launch is not only a celebration of his 40th birthday but a showcase of the talent in South Australia. Many of you may have gotten to know Shaun as the loud frontman for progressive rock outfit with Sean Timms, and Cam Blockland (The SuperJesus) in Southern Empire, or as the guy who sang with Keith Urban on the Voice, or Adelaide’s Fave epic vocalist in Adelaide Fringe’s Favourite ‘Farnsey’. Its likely that you’ve yet to see Shaun quite so intimately as you will in this show, as his wife, I can tell you that some of these songs have had me sitting in front of him with tears in my eyes not only for ourselves but for all of us. An album that highlights the discomfort of what it is to be human.
The entire release was crafted in his studio at home, in the lounge room of our family’s steadily growing life and on the front steps of Priyanka’s family home. The Purple Book is an album that is a story that emerged slowly from where he’s been, where he is and where he’s going.
So what does this sound like, you ask?
It sounds like 'Closing your eyes to hide, and being seen for all you are anyway.’
